How do you know it's a government owned facility?

(View of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa)

We took the kids out to Taman Titiwangsa last Saturday. For those of you who have not been to the park it is actually a great place. Lots of space. Green. Trees. And lots of activities to keep kids happy. Cycling paths. Boating lake. Horse rides. Horse carriage rides.

Laura having a great time at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa
Min and Adam enjoying the horse carriage ride

But how do you know it is a facility owned and operated by the Kerajaan?

The omnipresent A4 paper signages stuck on with yellowing, dried cellophane tape. Keep a lookout for this piece of Malaysian mystique the next time you visit any government facility. Actually, the A4 paper sign has invaded even private enterprise. Lots of them around the KLIA too. Just one of those things that make us sooooooooo Malaysian. Sad thing is that we are actually becoming proud of our A4 paper signs.

Aiya, that one look only like paper ma. That one ah, very chun security camera you know. Buy from Ghana one - or mebbe Nigeria - I oso forgot. You know all that mail we get from people in Africa who got millions and millions in the bank and want to share all that money with you? They sold that chun technology to Malaysian government one.

Don't forget the ever present A4 paper signs in the banks that say "SIstem Off Line". Since the offline condition happens ever so often, at least have the decency to make a more permanent plastic sign.

classic la this one.

arkane, you hit the nail on the head. But permanence would mean planning and organisation and that would be too un-Malaysian.

Ann, I didn't get it. What camera?

I was just being a smarty pants, Patrick. I was saying that those A4 papers are actually high-tech security cameras. (Or maybe it's the yellowing cellotape). What can I say? I live on a parallel universe...

no more budget to get a decent sign. no more allocation to take care of the place in RMK9. How do u find the place? I always find the lake is smelly, unless they switch on the fountain.

Hi sherrina. I actually like the place. The lake didn't smell the times I've been there. It's not that they don't have the budhet for decent signs. It's just that decent signs need planning for.

Tasik Titiwangsa maintained by DBKL, isn't it? I hope they read your blog !!

Blackpurple,
Alas, DBKL doesn't have those 'Business Consultants' like Caltex does, so you can be sure they will never comprehend anything written here. =P

Thanks to Pat for reminding us Malaysians these little things(good and bad) make us Malaysians unique. For example: we open our car doors to spit, even while driving. Tissues are for whussies!

I think mob1900 is right, blackpurple chances of DBKL reading my blog is as good as Hell freezing over. Worse, they could care less. You're also right, mob1900 there are so many things that make us all so 'proud' and uniquely Malaysian. Sadly, not too many of these things are really worth shit. You just gave me an idea for a blog. What makes us truly Malaysian. Your opening car doors to spit will make the first spot on the list.
