180 degree spins

(Adam: Ha? Did I say no increase in power rates? Just joking only.)

Aiyoh!!! All these turn arounds by our so-called leaders is sure getting us nowhere la. Reminds me of the leader of the lost patrol in the newspaper comic strip. Okay, okay...what is Patrick ranting about now?

I just read on the Net that Energy, Water and Communications Minister Lim Keng Yaik has announced the cabinet's approval for power tariffs to be increased by an average of 12 % from June 1.

But...but...but...wasn't it just days ago that I read in the newspapers Pak Lah saying that there would be NO power rates hike for the time being??? Maybe it is all this spinning that's causing me to hallucinate and read things that are not there. Maybe the PM meant for the "time being"...like while I am still speaking. Soon as I get out of this place ... anything can happen. But, hey! while I am here talking to you there will be no price hike. Okay bro?

Then the JAKIM gentleman says that from next year cosmetics that are not certified HALAL will not be allowed into the country. A couple of days later he comes out to refute the newspaper reports saying that it wasn't what he meant and that of course non halal cosmetics will still be allowed...blah...blah...blah.

I don't know about you but I am still close to tears about what is happening to Amir Mohd's film, Lelaki Komunis Terakhir. First, the censorship board approves it with a U certificate for general screening. Then days later the Home Ministry bans it. About turn! Then it is announced that the UMNO Supreme Council is the deciding factor if the film is to be approved or banned. Today, I learn that... No lah. It is the government who will decide not UMNO (although of late the line between the two seems to be blurring. For me at least.) About turn!

Of course the most famous and most hotly debated about-turn is the Crooked Bridge or Scenic Bridge.

First, let's build the bridge.

Then, wait...wait...wait...the flers across the other side of the straits don't agree.

Followed quickly by...F*** them la. We build it anyway. Much hot air followed that song and dance.

Then suddenly, the Prime Minister says it. "YES! We're building the bridge!" Yay!

A few days later... Errrr no lah we are definitely cancelling the project. That's four 180 degree turns in a row. That surely must be a Malaysian record of some kind.

The goverment's term under pak lah doesn't know how to appreciate what is called certainty. AIH.... apparently everything is BLUR BLUR and not well-planned. Should there be any "MASSIVE" changes, it should be spoken by the Yang Dipertuan Agung during the first day of parliament assembly. (King's speech?) Obviously planning is one of the weakness of our "Fathermother". Their decisions are made impromptu, and quite shocking as well..

HERE, i would like to embrace all Malaysian. I think the ability to bear all these "nervous-shock" lies within our genetic. Bolehland citizens are really strong in bearing shocks... and secondly , our patienty. it is something that could not be seen in developed or western country.

well, is it true that we are really that SABAR or we already NUMB to all the impromptu games?

Bolehland citizens, i sallute you!

regards

zee kin

I just read about the higher power rates. Let me guess: we'll soon have some smart alecky minister advising us to "change our lifestyles."

Henceforth, Bolehland shall also be known as Lallang Land. La La Land for short.

Can we get that guy who wrote the "SEXUAL ABUSE
children to be exterminated" article to write something really nasty about this new development?

During my parents' time, it was 'Gostan'(Go astern) now it's 'U-Turn'.
In future, it will be 'Piew-Yu' or drifting just like the tofu-driver in Initial D. Infact our present leader does remind us of one of the most important ingredient in that movie: Tofu.

PENDERAAN MENTAL
rakyat perlu dihapuskan

Now, that's scary!

Dean arif, that's a good one! wakakaka

sometimes i wonder whether the right hand i.e. PM knows what his left hand i.e. ministers/MPs are saying or doing and vice versa hence the total opposite outcome is seen.

maybe it is purely done to confuse the confused citizens as hopefully when the confused citizens is bogged down with much confusion on what is going on in ones confused country, the confused citizen will be too confused to question the so called confused government and the so called confused government can carry out like before confusing the already much confused citizens.

confused yet?

Joy,

That kind of confusing tactic is really a "penderaan mental"! But then again they would say that "semuanya ok" since only 40% of our rakyat have gone mental!

Election day is still very far, that's why they can still suck us dry before turning pussycat during election year.

Just watch the papers for our next cheap entertainment thrill - tips on how to "change your lifestyle":

1. Don't use the aircond - open your windows wide wide to let the air in (along with aedes mozzies and foul smell from the clogged longkang)

2. Use the washing machine only once a month. You can flip your underwear a few times before it's time for a wash.

3. Watch TV in the dark. Have more candle-light dinners.

4. Don't use the hair dryer. Wind down your car window and let the morning breeze dry it naturally.

5. Etc, etc...

Hey, there are 6 days till June 1, 2006. So let's be optimistic that tak-a-pak-lah will change his mind once again:)

haha.. funnny!!

but the not so funny part is the electricity bill.. It's going to be a nightmare.. So have to have lifestyle changes huh? Open windows, let mozzies, haze, dust, pollution etc in lah.. Then they can increase healthcosts HAHAHA.. Ok, enough of the conspiracy theorists..

After all, they did the "at least we are better than some other country whose average income is a hell of a lot lower than ours".. As if it makes it ALLLLL better.... "At least we are better than Ghana" as one comedian once said..

But savings rate can't go up, bLR goes up how many times this year. petrol, electricity, then in turn all manner of regular stuff.. habislah.. But pay doesnt go up...

Ministry announces changes to law for working from home folks.. but then with increased elec and varies ammenities, is it going to be viable?

ok.. I stop ranting now, I'd better rant in my own blog, nanti PT scold me for curi his space hehehee..

"Among those 40%"

Anyway to get Pak Lah's govt to read Patrick's blog??? I think the criticism we have as the nation is captured very well here. Anyone also realises that Pak Lah is like an old senile grandpa which no one listens to??

Anonymous said...

It was good when Pak Lah came and decided he meant business. But now, I'm losing my optimism. Things are not that different after all. Heck, in fact, it appears to be worse off. The huge petrol price increase...now electricity rates...plus all the monkey shows in between. I mean, man. How much more nonsense can we stomach before we stand up and say 'Enough is Enough!'? Well, knowing how "tolerant" Malaysians are, the answer should be 'a lot more'. Sad, huh? Sighhhhhh.....

deaflisteners said...

So... that means, when they assured us there will be no more price hikes in petrol and gas this year, they can actually take it back hoh?

Anonymous said...

When they said they wouldn't increase petrol prices anymore for the year, they had meant just that, except that they'd increase prices of other stuff!! We sure got taken in, didn't we? Next, sure water rates will increase 1 (has it already been increased? can't remember la)...

Uncle PT..This 12% tariff hike really pissed me off. This mean i will have to increase all my dental charges by 120 %....If not how am i going to buy a new Mercedes Benz...

No wonder no patient came to my clinic today.Any time there is a price increase( Ayam,minyak,gula..etc)nobody will come to tampal lubang...might as well change my profesion and sell ayam, gula or minyak...

Any idea on how to get license to become independent power producer ?

the simplest solution to these hike thingy or the fact that the government keeps changing its mind every 2 seconds or the fact that they perpetually give lame excuses for every action taken like in the electricity price hike "to encourage electricity saving" (i know, like wtf?)is to vote for people who we believe would run the country better.

but then again, do we even have choices?

What a clear signal showing that
1. our PM is very indecisive
2. it's either the people within the govt is not working as a team OR they really need to go for communication training

Basically, how can you expect us to have confidence in Uncle Lah if he keep babbling stuff and took them back.

Anonymous said...

ahah.. all this 180 degree spins and U-turns just reflected how dumb, undecisive and pathetic..our country policymakers, ministers..politicians (those who run the country lah..) are. We are the laughing stock of the world. Imagine, this majority (that's the magic word in Pak Lah's administration)group of people in the gov can make one decision.. and few days, weeks or months later again this majority group can agree to a totally 180 degree , U turn type of decision.. (sounds familiar?)what the fark wrong with these people? And yet we trust/let them to run the country.. Maybe we are more dumb, because we let them do what they want..KNN

Why we still cannot achieve economics of scales... most of the developed countries would remove protectionism. US even banned monopoly. is time for Malaysian govn to allow competition... see how maxis fight with digi and the telecommunication thingy is become more and more reasonable, affordable, and well... consumer friendly..

those monopoly like petrol, TNB, all inefficient one. aih...

Don't know what they want also.. efficiency or votes?

Anonymous said...

Increase 12% now, then before the next election, bring it down to 6% and tell people, see we cut rates by half, we listen to the people, we care (ugh!) for the people. Bah!

Anonymous said...

Oops, sorry. That comment is supposed to be for the blog entry on higher electricity rates.

A huge fuss made over Chin Peng and the deaths he caused during the Emergency but now Emperor Akihito is going to visit Perak and NO ONE says a word about Japanese War Crimes culpability - as the representative of an unrepentant and unapologetic nation which caused so many deaths to loyal Malayans and Brits in the Second World War, why isn't HE banned from entering the country? Remember the Sook Ching campaigns, anyone? Remember the rapes, the tortures, the live disembowelling -all this didn't just happen in Nanking but in peaceful towns all across Malaya and South East Asia.
