God or Religion?

"God offered us TRUTH.
Satan organised religion."

I was at a Chinese New Year open house this afternoon and overheard the above comment which I thought I would share with all of you. Let me know what you think.

Sadly, I think Satan is winning this thing.

I've heard some scholars contend that the Judeo/Christian belief systems were responsible for the personification of evil.

I also heard of that line before, but baarger, cannot remember where.

Truth and religion are 2 separate matters, izzit ? Waaaah, that means religion is not truth - sure some people will get upset and might actually write something in this comment section !

I always remember the Spanish Inquisition (I wasn't there, so no wise cracks ah Patrick). The religious dudes basically said "my way or no way".

Their way was the "truth", but they all very garang and nasty in the name of religion.

Truth or non-truths, religion or no religion, it's all hogwash if u aint got the rest. ...I'd aim for compassion, love and loyalty first....the rest will follow.

All in the name of religion, eh...
Hope u don't mind i go a bit cheem....

Well, the Bible likens the church as the bride and Jesus is the groom. For those of us who are married, we all know we're not perfect and we didn't marry a perfect person. But somehow, deep inside, i feel, there's a sense of spiritual connection and compatibility which i feel comes from God. This, in a

Many things evil have been done in the name of religion. But we've to make the distinction clear that God and religion are indeed separate.
Also, religion by definition [looking at it from my Christian perspective lah], does not define the church as well. It is thru the organizing of 'religion', that most of the world's eyes peer thru to attempt to see God. The media has indeed magnify this [idiotic but sadly true].

Hypocrisy abounds in church. Agreed! Why? Coz it consists of people mah. But it is God's grace and words that gives people like me a benchmark of what goodness really is in this screwed up politician's [chiak pah bor sai pang!] world. Well, no matter how dark life gets, there is always light that causes our eyes to refocus. I may not be as experienced as you, Patrick. But from my own, i think life requires us to continuously refocus. Some people i've seen in my church have been there for eons.... I don't think they're spiritual or even emotional masochists lah. I've had my fair share of frustrations and conflicts in church too. But suffice to say, I still love the church and what Jesus is doing thru it!

Well said, but it has to be well defined in the context that it came from.

Satan came into place to make a religion look good... in everything there is good and evil. If we do not place something on the stage to stone, then how do we know wat good is? then again, ask urself, how do you know good is good? can evil bring about goodness or vice versa?

i believe in one fine thing... love all and embrace the devil to help you make your decisions. all tat said, let's go iht the mamak for a cup of teh tarik tongkat ali... the devil's drink as it's suppose to bring goodness to an evil deed!
