Riding around the city in the RapidKL bus this afternoon, I spotted this sign of typical Malaysian standards of maintenance...
Where are these buildings? Some abandoned condo project? Birds nest harvesting hotels?
Some pre-war heritage building destined for demolition? What?
No...they are...part of...
Weren't we once, not so long ago, so proud of these two monolithic structures? Didn't we all swell up with Malaysia Boleh spirit whenever they were mentioned? Didn't we use to boast with them to tell the world that we are soooooooooo GAYA?
Ha? Oh yes, I forgot. They're not the tallest buildings in the world anymore, right? So waffor to maintain, right? Right.

"the best unmaintained twin towers in the world"... the terrorist won't even bother with it. =P
Spider Man was there climbing the other day lah. He saw a crook dipping into the National Kiity (Petronas)...
(after reading deepblue dude's comment) come to think of it, maybe our subsidy removals were for the twin towers maintainence fund, for the next century! tsk.
Midnitelily, terrorists? The new terrorists now infiltrate at the most basic levels. No need for religious indoctrination, suicide bombers etc. Just make sure that the education system continues to churn out typical Malaysians. In years to come, there won't be need for bombs and other traditional terrorist methods of intimidation. Buildings will fall down on their own due to lack of maintenance, people will continue to be mediocre and that will cause the country's collapse. All terrorists need to do is wait a while.
malaysia buleh
Oh no patrick, we should brace oursleves for another round of petrol price hike man. Petronas will probably need RM1 billion from garmen to repair those damages.
That's why there's a loooonnnnggg queue to go into "Malaysian Hell". The electric chair not maintained, the bed of nails, no nails (all stolen), and the officer still at the teh tarik stall....
Haha..
This is Bolehland after all...
Can we build the largest flag-pole in the world? - Boleh...
Can we build the tallest building in the world? - Boleh...
Can we leave these to rot? - Boleh...
It's just a matter of time before the next round of "Boleh" things come up again... :-)
Can we leave our rakyat to suffer with all the high prices while drive around with fuel guzzling expensive european cars? - Boleh
Can we squeeze more from our rakyat to fatten our wallet? - Boleh
Can we think of more ideas to squeeze more money from our rakyat? - Boleh
I think they now claim it as the "tallest twin towers in the world" LOL!
HI egghead. Did they claim that? Well I guess they can, right? They are the tallest TWIN towers in the world, right? Actually, from the time they were built I've always tbought of them as The World's Tallest Buildings Which Don't Really Look That Tall When You're Standing There Looking At Them TALLEST BUILDINGS. Hey! That's some sort of record too for the longest title of a record, record;-)
what maintenance ah? Msian know nothing about maintenance...do first thing later ah.
One thing they know about maintenance is maintain status! Look at all the anak anak menteri, tansri, datuks and datins. maintain status No 1. everything else Tidak apalah.
Oh btw, building we don't know how to maintain, but we know how to sponsor BMW F1 racing car... Own building take peduli..Si Petronas only know how to maintain its sponsorship status. "Face" more important mah.
Habis la our country..
oh since when did we know how maintain a building huh?
maintain national car also dun know...maintain national airline inthe sky also dun know.....now for the tallest building in the world msian also dun know.
the ppl running the show is running it to the ground.
sad case for Boleh land.
For the record, the first shot was taken from the lobby/base of the Maxis Tower, at the right side adjacent to the northern Suria KLCC entrance. The second shot was taken on a plaza structure at the KLCC. I have no comments about the state of the area, or the likes, but these wear-and-tears are clearly not from the Twin Towers themselves. Care to clarify?
do you all know why these happened?
because we're being sold overpriced cheap materials.
something fishy for you all to think about. i'm not sure how much this two sticks cost, but it definitely bought someone some nice cars or bungalows.
That's Bolehland for you. You know that Tourism Malaysia tagline - Malaysia Truly Asia? They should change that to Malaysia Truly Tokkok. AND pay you royalties too.
Hi anonymous. For your information both the shots were taken from the same spot. I never said that the photos were OF the Twin Towers. Did I?
aaron, yeah you could be right about that. Cheap material and shoddy workmanship. Don't you just wonder and shudder when you see obviously under-qualified contractors armed with their little 1 ton lorry and their squad of Bangla labourers with cangkul and shovels working on a)major expressway repairs b)major building renovations or maintenance c)erecting gigantic unipole structures etc. etc. etc.
maintaining ah? I think singapore oldest MRT station is far well maintained than our new LRT station..pathetic.
aaron, using cheap materials is unavoidable because the main contractor just 'kiau ka', sub the whole project to another company to do(which are not entitled to tender for u know what reason la),one hand after another, the 'final'working contractor just have a small budget to work with ma! pycho isnt it?
Acherly hor, the blardy cuaca, blardy hot. So the skin come out lar, like the one u know, hokkien say, "lut kang" where the skin detached from the forehead. Now you get what I am trying to say?
patrick, it's er....er....er...me."Mr Water spray Mouth"lah!
i know each time when...when...i speak, i'm very kan-cheong, so..so...my spittle shoots everywhere at everyone. i also notice the reporters usually use their note-books to...to...shield their faces!
Listen to what i got to say. Go to Voice Samples. Check Voice Sample 3.
Hmmm... and here I am all excited about going to KL for a Holiday taking my family to see in awe the twin towers... Despite all, will still go! :D
Hey wacky willy! Great impressions. I enjoyed listening to them all. Thanks.
Mamijarum, inspite of the peeling paintwork the Twin Towers are still worth a visit especially if you have not seen them before. Enjoy.
I was watching a show over on British telly about 'megastructures' and was very proud when one episode was about the Petronas twin towers. Halfway through the show there was a comment about how there was a delay in the construction as 'the material delivered was not of the quality required'. Which was probably diplomatic lingo for 'they got screwed'. Could only hang my head in shame at that point.
Aiyerrr.... dun be like that maa... if not how contractor will have jobs to do?
Why u think got so much pod hole, crooked bridge, leaking hospital ...
This way, it will ensure the productivity of Malaysian Contractors ... Boost the economy ... and of course since we use the Multiplier Effect (Owner pay Main Con, Main Con pay Sub Con) can feed many families oh... unless the Main Con really go CON the subs :P
daaamn.
Patrick, I am worried !
Worried that they will increase 30 sen fuel.
Reason of increase: To improve public maintenance on modern buildings and towers.
How do they do the maintennace:
Just demolish the tower and build a new one.
Malaysia Boleh!!!
Sad sad case for the boleh-land. They built, they see, and they left it to rot.. Tonnes of other monuments, buildings and facilities are having the same problem. Go look at the new public universities, you'll be shock that the buildings are already cracking, sinking and breaking into pieces. And it's not even 10 years old yet! (Clue: somewhere in Borneo..)
What is it to be proud of, to be labelled as the most beautiful campus in Asia when your structuring is rotting? It all lies down to the issue of our Cons, and their sub-cons, and their sub-sub-cons. Solve it, Mister!
dun "insult" the twin towers
